The Iconic French Press Coffeemaker: Bodum Chambord's Enduring Legacy
The Bodum Chambord is an iconic and beloved coffee maker that has stood the test of time. Its distinctive design, now synonymous with the Bodum brand, dates back to the pre-war era. The principle behind this product was developed in the 1930s by the Italian Attilo Calimani, and it began to gain popularity in cafés after the war, with its breakthrough in France in the 1950s.
Jørgen Bodum, an enthusiast of the French press method of brewing, started working on his own version of the French press in the 1970s. Bodum began producing its Bistro French press in collaboration with the French company Melior-Martin, which manufactured the coffeemakers in their French factory. They produced a dome-shaped version similar to the Bodum Chambord, which was inspired by the tower of the famous French castle Chambord.
In 1991, Bodum acquired Melior-Martin and brought this iconic coffee maker to households worldwide. The Bodum Chambord was then further developed and improved to what it is today. To this day, Bodum continues to produce the Chambord with the same artisan craftsmanship of the past, but with a focus on environmentally responsible manufacturing in their own factory in Portugal.
The French press system continues to be a greener way to brew coffee, bringing out the truest flavor possible. Bodum's core belief, "make taste, not waste," is embodied in the Chambord French press, which has stood the test of time and remains a beloved coffee-making icon.
Product Description and Use:
The Chambord is a true original – the classic French press coffee maker designed in the 1930s. Bodum continues to produce it with the same painstaking craftsmanship used in the past. The only difference in the production process since the 1950s is Bodum's commitment to the highest standards of environmentally correct manufacturing, particularly during the chrome plating process.
The frame and lid, made of stainless steel, undergo several chrome plating processes to obtain a durable, shiny surface that will last for many years of intense use. The carafe is made with a BPA-free Tritan Plastic Shatterproof Carafe, which is much more resistant to scratches than most other plastics.
The black Chambord Polypropylene handle comes in a matte finish that not only provides a comfortable grip while serving but also adds to the classic quality of the design.
The French Press system has always been the simplest and ultimate way of brewing an excellent cup of coffee. Using fresh, coarse-ground beans with water between 92 and 96 degrees Celsius brings out the very best in all types of coffee. This classic design makes 12 to 51 ounces of coffee in just 4 minutes, using a Recyclable Tritan Plastic Beaker that is Shatterproof, Scratch-Resistant, and provides a cleaner and greener cup of French Press Coffee.
